Grandson of Roger II, Guillaume II undertook the construction of the cathedral of Monreale in 1174. It is one of most beautiful examples of Norman creations in Sicily.
The splendid interior is entirely covered by 42 mosaics, with Byzantine style inspiration, describing some scenes of the Old and New Testaments.
